#3: The creditor or collection agency must follow reasonable procedures to ensure that information on your credit file is reporting correctly. Once they receive communication from the credit bureaus, they must investigate the disputed information, and return the results to the credit bureaus promptly.
#4: If the credit bureaus get back the verification from the creditor or collection agency within the allotted time allowed under law, they inform you by mail that they did. If the credit bureaus do not receive back the verification of the disputed information or do not receive back complete information, they make the determination of whether to delete the account as requested, or edit the account per the consumer's request.
